The Daily Critique

"Robert from Washington" by Craig Tanner

Posted: March 11th, 2009 @ 12:01am

In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a beautiful portrait of a tree. Craig discusses quality of light and complimentary color as two elements of visual design that can create a strong illusion of being able to move through the image. Craig also discusses the potential psychological impact of an old and grizzled subject and how that quality of the subject can create depth on an emotional level for the viewer. Craig discusses balance and visual unity and looks at a crop that creates a version which is potentially more graphic and abstract.
