"Michael from Illinois" by Craig Tanner

Posted: March 23rd, 2009 @ 12:01am

In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a beautiful environmental portrait and discusses the following :

- using window light as a beauty light

- the potential effectiveness of matching soft gestures with soft qualities of light in portraiture

- how working with a square frame can make it much easier to design photographs

- using the new content aware scale to minimize background distractions in the image

- converting to black and white to make the image more emotionally evocative and to get rid of background color distractions and color cast issues
