The Daily Critique

"Janet from Arkansas" by Craig Tanner

Posted: April 17th, 2009 @ 12:01am

In this week’s Photo of the Week on the Daily Critique, Craig discusses a beautiful portrait that was submitted as part of TME’s Community Assignment Number 6.  Craig specifically discusses the following points:

- honoring our intuitive / creative impulses instead of giving in to doubt

- taking assignments from people we trust / love / are motivated to shoot for as a way to be more creative and get away from our shooting being so self centered

- the evocative power of gesture and expression

- the potential power of details to help deeply communicate story based images

- complimentary color and tertiary color

- working with twilight as an evocative quality of light for shooting architectural interiors

- formal symmetry as an element of design in architectural photography
