The Daily Critique

"Jim from Pennsylvania" by Craig Tanner

Posted: February 23rd, 2010 @ 1:36pm

In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a beautiful still life photograph and discusses the following:

- complimentary color pairs

- juxtaposition of different qualities of line and shape

- soft side light for simple, patterned subjects

- using curves and grouped layers to darken

- leaving some things for the imagination of the viewer, especially if they are heavily implied, mature subjects that have the potential to create design imbalances

- Metadata – Nikon D 70, 105mm effective focal length, ISO 200, f5.6@ 1/125th
