"Blake from Connecticut" by Craig Tanner

Posted: June 21st, 2010 @ 12:01am

In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a creative studio photograph and discusses the following:

- going above and beyond the “assignment”

- a honeycomb spot grid light modifier

- asking the question – “what is the main subject?”

- simplicity, color theory, and quality of line

- in a color image, the impact of white and bright areas on a balance and the power of darkening the edges and corners

- positive and negative space shapes and unconventional cropping

- Nikon D700 f2.8 100mm macro lens ISO 250 f10 1/160th sec one flash head with 20 degree spot grid
