The Daily Critique

"Clive from the UK" by Craig Tanner

Posted: July 1st, 2010 @ 12:01am

In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a strong environmental portrait and discusses the following:

- using shallow depth of field to simplify

- formal symmetry

- black and whites potential to simplify and evoke more emotion

- the power of body language

- bringing the main subject forward by working with lowering contrast in the background, darkening the background and blurring the background

- continuing to ask the question – “What is my main idea?”

- Canon 30D EFL 80mm ISO 200 f2.2@ 1/1000th
