In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a beautiful portrait and discusses the following:
- 85mm is a great focal length for head and shoulder shots and face shots
- f2.8 and shallow depth of field and 1/500th of a second and getting a sharp picture handheld
- working with harmony of color in a dynamic way
- visual unity through implying the cross hatching of the major diagonals
- achieving visual unity through repetition
- considering the direction of light on an overcast day
- using the selective color adjustment layer in Adobe Photoshop CS5 to simplify the way color is expressed by skin on the face
- Canon 5 D Mark II 85mm f2.8@ 1/500th sec
