In this part one of a two part episode of The Digital Darkroom, Craig shows you the foundation work of the Adobe Photoshop CS5 processing of a light painted night photography landscape photograph which posted to Craig’s blog and was previously discussed in The Light Diary Vidcast episode "Light Painting".
In this video Craig discusses the introduction of gaps of time in the editing process to become more objective about the finishing process, the creative freedom that can come with images which are more abstract and surreal at the level of capture, working with multiple raw conversions as layers in one file coupled with layer masks to set the foundation of value, contrast, and color relationships in the image. Craig also discusses lighting effects and the use of the selective color adjustment layer to remove an unnatural color cast in the sky of the image.
