Photography Critique - Chinese Moon Festival - Sydney, Australia

"Carlo from Australia" by Craig Tanner

Posted: January 31st, 2011 @ 6:09pm

In today's Daily Critique Craig looks at a strong impromptu portrait and discusses the following:

- the design principle of emphasis

- understanding the repetitive pattern of the quantity and quality of existing natural light

- getting in control of your technique in dynamic shooting scenarios

- "over shooting" when forced to shoot a shutter speeds which are known to be to slow for handholding

- using Adobe Photoshop to change color balance, brighten the eyes, and create a gradient of color saturation and value that will further emphasize the main subject

- Metadata - Nikon D700, EFL 70mm, ISO 1000, f2.8@ 1/25th sec
