| February 6, 2012 @ 8:28pm | Tyler, I will be back to try a long exposure with my ND filter to see what it looks like. It's only six blocks away so it should be easy to try.
Tom, I'll try the changes to see if it keeps the eye on the image longer. Nice suggestions!
John, the shot is a stitch of four portrait orientation shots cropped to 4x5. I saw the shot but couldn't get what I wanted in a single shot, so I thought pano.
Doug and Greg, the structure in the snow was intentional. When I was there, you could see the texture in the snow surface and the undulations in the snow. Straight out of the camera, both sensations were lost until I pulled it back in processing.
Thanks to all for the comments and looking. I can't believe I thought you had to travel cross country to find something interesting to photograph. My personal assignment is to find interesting shots from the four seasons from my local forest preserve.

| February 6, 2012 @ 7:37pm | I so enjoyed viewing these photos of Lynx -- they have such presence in your captures.
But I have to add...

Quote (MrNikkor)
It might be hard to see in this size of image but there is a lynx in the woods in this next shot. They have such good camouflage. |

WOW. Even with the lead-in, I almost missed it. That is a spectacular image!
I love the way it scares me to discover what is lurking in the woods. |

| February 6, 2012 @ 7:26pm | Thanks Flo! Big feet short tail, I guess it does even out:) The only way I was able to see it in the woods is I watched it walk down a trail then head into the bush. I was looking for it to come out. Otherwise I wouldn't have seen it in a million years. They are cats so they just kinda do their own thing, if you know what I mean. The first lynx looked at me for a while before deciding to come out. It looked at me as it heard the shutter clicking away.
Thanks Don! I think most of us shoot things we like. I know I sure like these cats. Love to have one as a pet but then again, it is a wild animal.

| February 6, 2012 @ 6:34pm | I want you to know Dan, I could do that too. All I lack is skill and imagination!
One thing that I've noticed with my own mphoto's that I suspect is true with yours is, you shoot animals and scenes that appeal to you. Then you've been doing it so long it's second nature. As usual, GREAT STUFF! |

| February 6, 2012 @ 6:24pm | | Nice photo! I like B&W but in this one either would do. I'll go with the B&W because I saw it! |

| Thoreau Street again | February 6, 2012 @ 5:59pm | In response to your comments, some play with the editor. This is another shot in the series, which I warmed a bit and agree it feels nicer, Greg!

| February 6, 2012 @ 5:30pm | Hi Wes and Flo, Thanks for the comments! I spent last week on a warm Pacific beach. It WAS kind of a wonderful fantasy golden land, for about 10 minutes every evening. Fast shooting! Not much time to be thoughtful in my composing, waves chasing me, praying not to fall down with the camera! The light really does something magical to the water...all four elements in abundance!
