Here are two more images of the desert in the snow. They are 4 and 3 frame panoramas, respectively, from Red Rock National Conservation Area which is just west of Las Vegas, NV. To give some perspective the escarpment in the second images is 3000 feet high. C&C always welcome.

Enjoy,

Gareth

Gareth,

I love both of these and the previous images that you posted. I really like the clouds in these two. How fortunate you are to live near such a beautiful location. With Zion and Bryce just up the road as well, I think I need to move.

Regards.

I agree with Bill about the clouds. The way that you have captured this, they look like I could pet their softness on my monitor.

I agree with Bill about moving out there to be closer to Zion and Bryce!
(And about the clouds.)

The clouds were very interesting. It was clear early in the morning but as it warmed the clouds started to form as you can see in the second image. By that time the tops of the mountains in the first image were totally obscured.

Thanks for all of the kind comments.

Hi Gareth,
I’ve enjoyed all of your desert snow scenes. I love the colours that you have captured, that sky is awesome. The clouds have grabbed my eye as well. I like how they are just starting to form in the last one.

I somehow must have walked away the other day before commenting on your first set of snow pictures. Now I'm glad that I didn't comment, because I think these 2 panoramas are the ones that you look at in years to come and think, "Man, was that a great morning to be out shooting!"

The first one does such a great job of capturing the dark red rocks and contrast them with the robins-egg blue sky. The second is a classic of the "storm clouds lifting" genre. It would be nice were there some diagonals to lead the eye through the foreground, but the strength of the rocks rising through the low clouds is sufficient to draw my eye to your main subject. Thanks for posting these.

Rick, that was "a great morning to be out shooting," especially since the snow doesn't last long around here. I agree about line leading you to the main idea, but sometimes they just aren't available.

Thanks for the kind words,

Gareth
