OK, I'll bite. I can't just let this board sit empty.

This is actually one of my favorite pictures of my dog, Tighe.
It's not the best quality, but there's something about it.

Enjoy!

PPY-definitely!

You'll bite? I thought that was a privilege reserved for the pets herein displayed.

I like the different planes exhibited on Tighe's face, with the seeming variations of color caused by light and shadow. I suppose we could quibble about the sharpest focus being on his nose instead of his eyes. On the other hand, when I'm awakened by the nudge that says, "Hey, I gotta go out!", my eyes are usually (blearily) focused on my beast's nose. I like this shot. Now we need to see one showing his playful nature.

When I enlarge this image on my high res monitor, the focus is on the eyes and not the nose, Rick!

I also love that I can see practically each and every hair. Greg, you certainly had his full attention. He's a very beautiful dog.

I hadn't noticed this new board before! Thanks, Craig - lots of us have pets.

This image was tricky for me.
When I looked at it in LR, it was soft. In PS it was crisp, yet strangely blurred on the nose. In fact, so blurred that I went into Canon's DPP to sharpen it so as not to distract too much. (I often go to DPP after LR to sharpen. DPP seems to add a bit more crispness without the edge aberrations that LR can add if you sharpen too much.)

Of course, once blurred, always blurred.

The focus is more forward in the image than I'd like, and that's because when I shoot handheld I have such a propensity to lean in, that I was trying so hard not to do, I actually think I leaned back while shooting.

Flo- thank you. He is beautiful! He's a black lab/mastiff mix I adopted from the county shelter. He sat like that for a full minute staring at me. I had no choice but to appease him and take the shot.Smile

Rick- I think the lighting is one of the reasons I like this image so much, even though the eyes are slightly out of focus. I'd take another shot, but he hasn't sat and stared like that for me! (And, I may be disappointed in the results anyway!)

He looks so full of character. The close crop really works well. Smile

Tighe at attentionFebruary 21, 2011 @ 10:19am
I love when he picks his ears up when he's interested in something. I couldn't pass this up.

1/25th @ f/6.3 ISO800

It's amazing how much his coloring changes depending on the light. Bright sunlight really brings out the rust in his coloring, but this diffuse filtered daylight leaves the darks as the dominating tones such as in this image, so I left it dark.

LOVE the lighting! This is a super image. I love how his eyes have light in them, even tho he's facing away from the light.

Thanks Albert! He's a mush, though!

At home, he's all about "don't come near my house if I don't know you!"
But out on trips with me he's "Hey!! I'm over here! Come say hi!"
