| Fred | February 27, 2011 @ 7:55pm | I just found this board! What fun.
Catnip on a scratching pad moved into a patch of sunlight enticed Fred to pose for a session.

| February 27, 2011 @ 10:08pm | I love your lighting, April. In the first, I'd swear Fred was smiling. In the second, he looks like one of those self-satisfied burghers in a Dutch painting from the 1600s. Thank Fred for me.

I'm in agreement with Rick about the lighting, as well. The sun coming in from the side lights him beautifully. He almost looks as though he has a lion's mane in the first shot.

PPY-definitely! "The very best you can hope for is ... I get over my need to be completely objective and instead take the time to create a photograph that makes you see, and feel, the scene the way I saw it." -David duChemin [ |

| February 28, 2011 @ 8:35am | What a beautiful cat! Fred is indeed regal and I love those green eyes! I also love the dramatic lighting.
In the first image, I like that his left eye is mostly shadowed - has he just awakened or is he about to take a nap - if only that camera toting human would go away, lol.
Did you flip the 2nd image horizontally? I like that he seems to be looking towards the right - I have a "right-looking bias" - don't know why, tho. In this image he seems to exemplify that feline serenity common to all cat species.

Again, wonderful capture.
Janet

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W. |

::laugh:: I'd not thought of it, but that is such a perfect association, Rick!
He was definitely a sweet prince, very serene, and I'm delighted that comes across for you each in these photographs.
Flo, I think I did flip the second for the reasons you mention.
As for the lighting... One morning it caught my eye as he lounged on his perch. For several days at about the same time I moved that into the sun for a photo session. After just a few days, the angle of sunlight and timing had changed so much the opportunity was gone!
