Golden glow

We just had our first significant rain in weeks. You could almost hear the plants saying "Ahhhh."

This image does have that wonderful feeling of freshness and breath(ing)!

I'll 2nd April's comment. The dew drops on the flower help to bring out that fresh spring feeling. I like how the flower pops off the background, nicely blurred by the bokeh and lensbaby effect. The flower is nicely in focus, something I have a hard time doing with my lensbaby.

Thanks, April.

Thanks, Tim. I hear you on the focusing issue. I struggle with this as well. To some extent I think that it is the nature of the beast. Also, I just don't use the lens enough.

Nice shot Dayle! The colors really pop in the rain.

Marti Jeffers' blog mentioned using live view on a tripod in order to nail the focus. I have found that incredibly helpful in getting in focus shots. Craig also suggest to slightly move far to near shooting in burst mode handheld. Often times, one or more shots of the series will be in focus.

The rose is celebrating! I also hear you on trying to focus the Lensbaby, esp since I don't like to carry a tripod. The technique of moving slightly in and out to hope that at least one frame will be in focus doesn't work very for me, as apparently I move too much between shots, lol.

Dayle, Ditto to all the comments. I just find the pink and yellow colors pop amongst the sea of greens very refreshing as well.

Thanks Chuck. Appreciate your comments and a couple of great suggestions.

Using a tripod with live view and zooming in to focus is definitely the way to go to nail the focus. I tend not to use a tripod with the lensbaby as it restricts you a bit. I really should start using one more often with these shots.

Interesting tip on burst mode. I will have to give that a try.

Flo - thanks for your comments. I also tend not to carry a tripod that often, should though, I guess. I like to move around a bit more that usual when using this lens and that is something good to practice in general, I think. Results would be more consistent with a tripod.

The other thing, of course, with this lens is that in addition to the usual z axis of focus, you've got the entire x-y axis to consider as well. I think that I am getting ever so slightly better with practice.
