Title? Is it because the veins reminded you of a compass rose? Nicely lit, Wes.

Well done Wes,
Lovely delicate image, great detail in the flower.

Rick, I saw the arrow in the middle and it looked like it pointed NNESmile but, now that you mention it, a compass rose is also there.

I have a hard time getting a good macro focus, Dave but every now and then I get lucky with the shot. As hard as I try, I seem to get a lot of blurry images, even with a tripod. Today, I decided to try practicing with handheld shots.

Amazing that you got this hand held! I've never seen or noticed this particular pattern before. Just lovely. I also love the sharpness of some parts of the petal edges.

This was an amazing shoot with a new camera, Flo but, I doubt if the images are the result of the camera, but more shooting in continuous mode and grabbing one that has a decent focus. I worked on this one in the garden longer than usual because of the color and patterns in the blossom. I've got to find out what this flower is.

Hard to tell what this is, as there are no leaves in focus, too. But I'm guessing either a convolvulus (bindweed) or a fancy vinca (ground cover).

I don't this is a Vincus, Flo, but have no idea. I couldn't find anyone to ask. It was growing in a big group on a tall stem. It looked, at first, lik a small carnation but it didn't have the frilly edge on the petals. There were pink ones and white ones.

Wes, there is a clarity and smootheness to this image that keeps me coming back.
I think you've got something here with your new camera. And I am glad to see that your eye has not failed you!
The soft, smooth detail alludes to this flower detached and "floating" amidst a sea of green.

This is one which I would love to see dead-center in the frame with a touch less "sea" around it. While floating in the beautifully blurred background enhances this shot, I think maybe a little less "sea" would lead to a lot more "see."Smile

Excellent image, Wes! I look forward to many more!

PPY-definitely!

As usual, I appreciate your constant reminders of different ways to look at ones images, Greg. I did intend to make this a square crop with less negative space but missed the mark along the way. Maybe I was thinking of more space for the blossom to move in when the wind blew.

Nice suggestion.
