April, any image you have ever made that I have seen holds up well, context or not! Don't worry about this one - it's great.

I've come across weathered streaks similar to this on various metal objects before - but I like your camera interpretation better than mine have produced. These marks may be graffiti letters, but it's hard to tell.

However, I love this, as it seems to be a background of night or low light with weeds sticking up - it has many "layers" to allow our fantasies full reign, too.

This would be lovely printed on a transparent fabric for window curtains, or even a dress.

April this is truly captivating. I keep coming back to see what my feeling are about this image that draw me too it. First of all, the blue background gives me the feeling of a deep dark mysterious forest with the foreground structures appearing as ghost like things. Just now, at this viewing, I seem to be caught up in deciphering what I see as letters as if someone or something is trying to get in touch with me. I can see an S, Y, I and A. When I fill this in it looks very close to being SYRIA I am very much into Sci Fi these days so maybe that is affecting me a lot. A great title for this image, April.

I must be nuts!!!

Thanks very much for your comments, Flo and Wes.

It is a metal substrate*, covering a window tucked somewhat below ground in an alley.

Like you, Wes, it was that deep blue color which first caught my eye -- then the layering over time, which suggests so many different stories. (I love sci-fi, as well.)

I'm very glad you enjoy it, too!

*P.S. My first thought was a metallic print, but I think the idea of flowing fabric suits the image well, "Flo". Smile

As this image was loading, I saw blue water, then pink seaweed, and I said, boy is this image intriguing...And so it remains.

Seriously, I thought this was photo of a painting at an art gallery.
This is a great find, nicely captured. It certainly hold holds my attention and screens to be hung.
