| Spring | February 17, 2009 @ 2:44pm | A true sign of spring at 37 degrees. How do they do it?

| February 20, 2009 @ 5:55pm | I also enjoy the separation and harmonies between foreground and background in each of these. In #3, the echo of the distant tree behind the arc of the crocus cluster; and in #2, the gentle background curves echoing the foreground bends of the snowdrops(?).
Reviewing the images, I realized they're posted in this Still Life forum! Are are you playing with forced flowers and backgrounds/background windows? The settings seem very natural.

Exactly what I saw then I shot this, Katie. Thank you for picking up on that.

| February 20, 2009 @ 6:45pm | These are all quite natural, April. Seems I spent this morning's shoot on my stomach most of the time. The only problem I had was waiting for the gusts of wind to die down. Thank you for the comments. I used a 28-300mm lens this time for the close ups and I think the backgrounds came out the way they did because of that.
I just learned a new way of shooting low if the tripod doesn't get low. If you fix the camera so that it is at a 90 degree angle to tripod and then lay the tripod on the ground with two of its legs spread apart, you can get about 3 inches off the ground and have a pretty steady prop.

| February 21, 2009 @ 7:35am | These are just very beautiful, Wes. Thanks for the tip about tripods. There's also a short center column that one can buy for certain tripods - I have one and it allows me to get very close to ground level.

| February 21, 2009 @ 8:49am | Thanks, Flo. In this technique there is no dis-assembly of the center post. Mine will do that also. This is one of those things that can be done at the last minute.

| February 22, 2009 @ 6:45am | Wes, I don't disassemble the center post each time. I disassembled it once, installed the very short post - and that's the way my tripod has been ever since. In fact, I don't even know where the long post is! So when I want to get low, all I have to do is splay the legs out flat.
