Editing A Photo In Adobe Photoshop CS4 - March 2, 2009March 2, 2009 @ 3:33pm
In this tutorial Patti Schulze walks you through editing a photo in Photoshop CS4, converting it to Black and White using a third-party plugin, then creating a Smart Object and adding a Smart Filter to stylize the photo.

The tip about using Content-Aware Scaling to edit this image could save me a lot of time compared to "digital grafting"! I'm looking forward to giving that a try; thank you.

I've GOT to using Smart objects, looks like it'll save a lot of layering and size.

Excellent tutorial

Patti, thanks for making this tutorial. I won't be watching it, however, as it concerns PS CS4. I have CS3 and it'll be a long while before I can upgrade.

So I'm wondering, since CS4 is on the market, whether we who still have CS3 will be getting any more tutorials for that version?

Flo,

You still could watch it even though you don't have CS4. Smile

Seriously, I understand your problem. Based on your comment, I will look at doing another one using CS3. Other than the Content-Aware scaling, all the other things I did are in CS3. Smart Objects work a little different though.

Thanks so much, Patti. Some day I hope to be able to download CS4, and I've also heard others say they're having to stick with CS3, too. So I'm sure I and these others will appreciate more CS3 content, too.

I never have figured out, for instance, why a smart object is smart! LOL. But quite some time ago I set preferences to always open my images as smart objects.

I was sure that I left a comment here, Patti but I don't see it. As usual, your tutorials are simple, to the point, inspirational, and very useful.

Thank you for giving of your time and energy.
