One day after the 6 inches of snow had finally melted, the crocus leaves were half up. The next day--lo and behold, the flowers appeared!!!

Since the ground was wet, I didn't try lying down on my tummy - wish I had, tho. I have plenty of crocus images shot from this POV. Images made with a 50mm lens plus the Raynox 6X attachment.

Beautiful, Flo. I love that color. Mother nature sure knows how to paint, doesn't she? I am sure psyched about spring. I think my sap is running once again. Time to come out of seclusion, except that the winds are up today so won't get out, even though it is in the 70s.

Great job Flo,

We have snow, sun, clouds, snow, wind, snow, melting, & thats in one hour today.

Thanks for reminding me spring is in the air somewhere.

Great colors.

Thank you all for your comments. Wes, I'm glad your "sap" is running again! I was sort of worried about you for a while [joking]

Tim, I don't know where you live, but that sounds like the weather I used to run into when visiting the Colorado Rockies! One July day a group of us were up at possibly the highest point on Skyline Drive.

One little black cloud blew in right over us, bringing first rain, then sleet, then snow, then sleet, and then rain as it passed over us. We huddled together under a few raincoats and umbrellas and magazines, notebooks and newspapers, lol. Time - about 7-8 minutes.

None of the other people outside of our group had this excitingly chilly and wet experience! A very small but powerful cloud that seemed to have it in for our group.

Great! I just love the explosion of color we get with the spring flowering bulbs. They are like fireworks to me in that you get bursts of color that fade and are replaced by the next wave.

Thanks for the reminder spring is on the way!

btw I saw a V of Canada Geese flying north the other morning couldn't get the camera out in time before they were gone.

Thanks, Michael. If you really want to experience spring "stretched our," start down south in Atlanta, Ga and then every day or so move to 50 miles north. Keep going this way and you'll have spriiiiiiiiig for quite a while. I've always wanted to do this.

I remember one year long ago, I went to Bangor, Maine, about halfway "up" in the middle of that state. It was the beginning of June. When I arrived, the crocus, daffodils and forsythias were blooming. By the end of the week, all the other spring flowers, bushes and trees had bloomed and the lilacs had just started! Spring compressed into one mere week!

Besides, the temperature was 74 degrees. The natives were complaining about how HOT it was!!!

Color me envious!Wink

In the first and second images, I love the glorious color and sense of emerging.

Here (in Chicago) we had 2 teasing springlike days but then plunged 40 degrees back into the 20's with 60mph winds.

Ah, well. I keep practicing with lighting and still lifes.

Thanks, April. I've been being envious of Wes, who lives near Washington DC and has access to spring earlier than I do here in NJ. Chicago wasn't nicknamed "The Windy City" for no reason, lol.

Wonderful saturated color. If Craig were commenting, he'd point out that yellow and purple are a complementary color pair on the color wheel. Hope I have that right....

Much less striking and, sadly, from last year (no crocuses yet, here)

Thanks, Saul. Indeed, purple and yellow are opposites. I like you close-up of crocuses from last year. Your spring will spring, soon!
