| Redstem Storksbill (Erodium) | March 18, 2009 @ 7:01pm | Today seemed to be the day for these flowers to start a general bloom. They are quite tiny, and thus perfect for practicing macro work. No chance for me to produce soft-focus, dreamy shots of the center of the flower, though. This 8mm beauty was shot with my 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, along with 27mm worth of extension tubes--and I still needed to crop to bring it to this size on the web. Canon 40D, f/11, 1/125, ISO 400, natural light.

And the reality check of comparative sizes: Abe Lincoln was truly a giant.

| March 19, 2009 @ 8:12am | I like this little flower so much. Seems like so many of the early blossoms are small around here, too (spring beauties, crocus, aconite and several others that I can't name. You got great detail here, Rick. I do love looking at macro and the penny does help with understanding the size of the flower.
