And, regrettably:

You planted a seed, April.

A nice touch of light on top of the champagne cork!

And I also enjoy the reflections, as a suggestion of two about to enjoy an evening together.

It might be cool if you were slightly revealed in shadow behind the setup...

“A Book of Verses underneath the Bough,
A jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread—and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness—

Nice job Wes.

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W.

My goodness, Wes! You keep a bottle of champagne around for photo props?! Now, that's what I call being prepared! Grin

I do like April's suggestion that it'd be nice to have a hint of you behind the bottle! Sort of blurred a bit, like you'd have been feeling had you opened it and partaken of some of its contents. Tongue Cheesy Grin

Joking aside, Wes, this is elegant. It'd make a lovely greeting card, you know?

Hey, whatever happened to your Patron? Is it gone already? Grin

Thanks April for the nice comment and the suggestion. I had just gotten home from lecture on the various uses of the camera flash and just had to try it out. This particular position worked but all of the others were failures.

As to my face lurking int the background, that is a scary thought. It would be different though.

Thanks for the poem, Janet, I was trying to remember it but just couldn't. All I could come up with was "a jug of wine and thou". You did get my message, though. Nice to think a picture is worth a thousand words that we all understand.

Thank you Flo. I was inspired by the lighting seminar from the afternoon and just had to practice a little.

A bottle of Patron silver still sits in the cabinet. The chanpagne bottle just seemed to fit my vision better.

Wes, why did this image succeed, when the others failed? Did you make any notes?

You have to be kidding, Flo. I have a little notebook sitting right beside me and, as usual, didn't make a single note. I had the flash on a light weight tripod and was changing the height and strength. I had the flash coming in from the top on this one and the strength set at about -.3 or something like that.

I see Craig taking notes all of the time and think, I should be doing that, but just don't. I preach the same thing to Usha but she doesn't, either. What will it take, I wonder.

Yes, indeed - what will it take? Wish I had an assistant! It's just too much to do when out shooting. I do think about it once in a while, but don't follow through. Geez, tripod, camera, assorted lenses and other stuff - plus trying to find notebook and pencil/pen - that's too much most days!

I love the addition of your ghostly face, tho. You seem like Paul Bunyan's size, compared to the size of the bottle, etc.

Yikes, Wes! That is a scary variation. All that's missing is the little powder packet...Smile
