| Rose Cane | April 4, 2009 @ 5:10pm | I noticed this while cleaning out the garden. Looked beautiful enough to take a couple of pictures of it so I had to stop what I was doing and start playing with the camera, reflector, 100mm macro and Singh Ray warming polarizer. (Anything to get out of real work)

| April 4, 2009 @ 6:45pm | You and Wes, lol. Thorny subjects seem to attract you. If you crop both these images up from the bottom so that only the thorns projecting upwards are visible, you could be shooting scene of the surface of an alien planet that your scout space ship is passing over. Then the thorns become some sort of habitats or dwellings.

| April 5, 2009 @ 12:42am | Well at least you'll know what stuck you when you do get back to work. The colors in #2 are both fun and startling. Glad you took a work break.

| April 5, 2009 @ 10:47am | Thank you everyone for commenting. I am not 100% happy with the composition but I see good potential here.
The exposure took between 15 to 25 seconds at this F Stop. I "painted" light on the subject with the reflector to soften and create an alien landscape.
I think I somehow need to get in even closer.
The colors in the second one are very close to how they appear in daylight. The black stem and the thorns like bones are what attracted me. The softer golden glow on the upper photo reminds me of shark fins or something. That one was a product of the gold side of the reflector along with the warming polarizer eliminating most of the harsher glare from the window light I used to illuminate it.
