I took this picture while taking pics for the latest assignment. I was trying to set the focus for my camera, and ended up with this beautiful flower. Enjoy!

Gee, Natalie - backlit beauty! What kind of flower is it? I don't recognize it - one of the tropical flowering trees comes to mind, but the name eludes me.

Is that a peach I see in upper left? I know this isn't a peach blossom, lol.

The stamens and pistil look like they belong to a lily, Natalie. Is that right? Great focus on the center structures. A happy occurrence.!!

Wes, you are correct, this is a Lily. Flo, those are actually oranges in the background. Wes - I am glad you like the focus I chose - this may sound silly, but since I am 100% self taught, I have been trying to learn EVERYTHING there is to know about my p&s camera, and focus was my latest challenge to myself. Once I figured out, it was easy as can be!! Plus it has opened up a whole new world of other types of photography. (I can't wait to submit my assignment pic - but am having a hard time choosing just one!) Hmm...maybe I can post all my favs on another forum and get help choosing them best one??? Nah - I think that would be cheating too!

Hmm. I think you've tipped us off as to what your "assignment" was. I'm glad you've figured out the secret focusing incantation for your camera, because you nailed it here. Beyond that, though, the colors are what make the shot for me. The yellows and oranges contrasting with that wedge of cyan sky are a very attractive combination.

Maybe a "little" tip, but on another very different subject (one of the hardest things to photograph, or so I have been told - if you can photograph this, you can photograph anything)...not flowers. I just got this one by chance. Smile
