| An Old Barn | November 13, 2008 @ 12:23am | Was out on a shoot at a house for photos of the new large porch on the house, but I kept getting drawn to the barn on the property,
Unlike the house, which was terribly backlight and I had to use a HDR combination on it, this barn was in some nice light and shadows toward evening and made for a nice fall capture. the owner liked the barn pick almost more than the house porch pics.

| November 13, 2008 @ 7:31am | Great picture of a dying breed. What I always want to do when I see an old barn like this, is to walk around inside and see what is in there that tells something of its past, (an old stirrup, old nails, old screws, old pieces of any metal, etc.) It could also be a great space to catch some interesting shadows and highlites. The lighting in this capture is just perfect for showing a lot of the details that adds so much interest to the image.

Wes, I'm amazed that you've lived as long as you have! It just doesn't look safe enough to go inside this barn.

I love old barns. They have a lot of character.

| November 13, 2008 @ 1:37pm | Thanks all,
What is nice is the interior of the barn has been renovated including the loft, and has nice new support timbers, it is structualy very sound, safe, and the tractor implements stay in there along with left over toys from the kids.
the exterior wall I shot was the worse of all three sides, and is the next project the owner is doing to recondition the unit.
but despite appearances, I would let my own daughter play in the barn because of the interior supports and strong roof.
This is a single shot, not HDR. I only did the HDR on the house project. |

| November 23, 2008 @ 9:51pm | The light on this barn is very nice. I like how it gives life to this old relic. Nicely done.

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W. |

I like the composition and detail. You can spend time looking over the entire barn and then investigate piece by piece. I love the basketball hoop, and thinking of the games played by kids in a bygone time.
Very nice work,
