| Historic Auto Racing | May 19, 2009 @ 9:55pm | Hello all,
It looks like things have been a little slow in the Sports section lately. Here is a vintage Corvette that was racing a few weekends ago at Road Atlanta. I would appreciate any constructive comments.
Thank you.
Chris

| May 19, 2009 @ 11:03pm | Chris, SlowPan more like you had to do a FastPan for this I like this image and the background. Beautiful car. For me though, I think the best autoracing shots are more at an angle from above and slightly oncoming, vs. going. That's probably more of a personal preference I guess. Growing up in Daytona and going to the Daytona 500 every year, I am use to seeing race cars like that, as they come around the turns that are on a slope.
The colors are great though, and very sharp, and the wheels show great motion. Great balance of shutter speed and panning.

| May 20, 2009 @ 6:52am | Chris, yiou caught the fast-moving car in focus - which is quite an accomplishment while panning. So next time perhaps you can get a different vantage point where you can see them coming around a bend, like Sean describes.

Thank you for your comments. I agree that the "coming at you" shot is also nice. I took a few of those as well. See below.

| May 21, 2009 @ 12:42am | Chris, Beautiful, exactly the vantage point I was talking about. Again, great focus on the car, with the wheels still showing motion and the background blurred so your attention stays on the car. Would loved to see that beautiful corvette at this same vantage point, I love the front profile of those cars. Anyway, great job on this one. I also think this image would look great with a tight crop around the car turning it back into a horizontal shot. I am a sucker for tight shots.

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W. |

| May 21, 2009 @ 1:15pm | Chris, your 2nd shot is excellent. However, i do like Sean's crop. You see, as soon as I saw your image, I thought that the track markings and that yellow and white line looked like that car has a tail!
