Another one of my fox shots. I decided to try this one in black and white. Any comments or suggestions?

Black and white works here, without a doubt. This is a great expression of wisdom and experience of life and what a beautiful model for a shot.

A great subject for B&W. A nearly square crop also might work.

Nice black and white. I see too as Flo says a possible square crop without the leg in it.

Thanks! Great minds think alike I guess. I actually cropped it square then changed my mind. Here's the cropped version. I think I like it better. Seems to be stronger.

YES! The square crop makes it a more intimate portrait. What gorgeous eyes those are that are looking back at us.

Another quick thought would be to crop the image even closer so that the face is all that can be seen and then a color cast to the eyes while leaving the rest of the image... I was thinking an ice blue but that is just an image I had in my mind when viewing your shot.

Just a thought and am trying to be a constructive part of the community here is a quick shot of what I kinda pictured in my mind, although the eyes would of course be much more natural and not just a quick paint job...

If you ever have the time could you tell me a little bit more about where and how you took the image, I love this shot!

Regards,
Danny

MrNikkor,
The composition of your cropped version appeals most to me.

The bright colored eyes look good in the other crop.

It's entirely possible that I have no clue what I'm talking about but I'm guessing the original eyes were not blue but brown? It would be interesting to see brightly colored eyes that are more along the lines of what it had naturally.

is it foxes or wolves that have yellow eyes? Wolves, I think. Since this is a fox and its eyes look light colored, I'll bet these are a light amber.

I'll have to try a color eye version. There are a number of color shots of this fox in the animal section. The posts are called foxy. The eyes are yellow.
