On the way up to Mt. San Antonio, in Southern Ca., there are several of these burned out Manzanita clinging to the ridge known as The Devil's Backbone. The elevation is about 9,600 ft. at this point with a steep drop of at least 500 ft. straight down just beyond this wood and rock sculpture.

Very powerful Sam,

Those tree sculptures almost have a human element to me, like many bodies reaching out as far as they are able. I can also see a human leg and foot curled up in the bottom left of the image against the rock, with what appears to me to be two arms extending down so the hands are covered by the leg with the torso being elongated into the main tree.

My initial thought when I first glanced at this image was that the main rock behind the tree was to dark and could be slightly brighter, after looking at it now I am not too sure but thought I would mention it anyway.

Thanks for sharing it,

Danny

Edit: thought I sounded a little crazy to my own ears so I did a quick mockup to illustrate.

And the slight edit I mentioned:

The "foot" in lower left looks to me like it's wearing a high-heeled shoe. hose also look much more like legs than arms to me. And the torso sits upright near the center of the image with its arms held high and twisted to the right - like the tree-being is flinging off all the cares of its world! But then, it did, as it's no longer among the living.

A great image - I do like the lightened rock version.
