| August 3, 2009 @ 6:57am | How interesting! The pollen falls into those cup-shapes at the base where the petals overlap. Is this a hibiscus? Some of those structures do look like rocks, lol.

| August 3, 2009 @ 8:14am | Thanks, Flo. This isn't a hibiscus but a very small (about 3/4 inch across) purple flower low to the ground. When I saw the inside, I had no idea what was going on. It finally dawned on me that this could be some kind of tumor growth. It just doesn't look normal. I saw them as small pebbles covering up the ovule.
