| Not a world record but big | August 10, 2009 @ 10:40am | Had to look up at this one which was about 8 ft. high and the blossom about 10 in across. One third of the size of the world record of 32.4 in across (approx). But it is a big find for me....

| August 10, 2009 @ 1:30pm | Thanks, Charlene. Sunflowers always give me energy and joy so this big one had a powerful effect on me.
It is a record for me, so far, too, Flo. If you look at the size of that stem, for one bloom, it is understandable why they are so sturdy. But, even then, if the wind is strong enough, I am sure this one would succumb also. When they grow this high, I think the record is 25 feet tall, they must be more susceptible to wind breakage.

Nicely lit, by the way!

Thank you Rick and so true. I haven't been back to see what shape it is in but I'll bet there has been some dining damage.

Thank you Abhi, I did use a small onboard flash with a diffuser attached to it but everything else was at their default setting. I am still trying out the new little Olympus E-P1 and had just received the small flash that is designed for it. I jerry rigged a diffuser from opaque plastic.
