Now I've got mine I thought I would get some practice in, not sure whether I should tell what this is, oh! its not an uncut diamond. BTW I did struggle with the focus.

Its a grain of sugar.

Here in the U.K.

I can't believe you got this great image of a grain of sugar, Did you use all of the extension tubes stacked on a telezoom lens? I really like the result here but I am sure focusing is a problem when you are this close and the depth of field must be in .5mm length range. Good going, Garth.

Super sweet, Garth! Grin

Now how about a grain of salt?

Gee, Garth, what do scanning electron microscopes cost in the U.K.? Marvelous magnification--I'm not surprised that focusing drove you slightly daft. Did you use a flash of some sort, or simply strong ambient light?--My experience with extension tubes was that there was a lot of drop-off in light, to the point of darkening the viewfinder and making focusing even more difficult.

Right guys, I did cheat to get closer than with just three tubes, I had my x10 diopter on there as well, yes Rick flash did work with a card fastened to it to bounce it off. I shall try with a grain of salt Flo but I'm thinking ... 3 tubes 10,7,4,1 diopters LOL. but not for a couple of days I fell and have slight concussion and visions a bit off in my right eye.

Thanks for describing, Garth. Hope you aren't seriously hurt, although a concussion is nothing to ignore. Get well fast.

Garth, you're not supposed to treat yourself this way! My wishes and prayers are for your swift recovery.
