Wes, what is this? It looks like a big bee with a little bee on its nose? It is pretty scary.

Becky, this is the head end of a bee. What you see in front is its compound eye and then four legs holding on and a bit of the furry thorax.

My gosh - this is closer to one of these bumble bees than I ever want to get! Wes, did you use an extension tube or some other enlarging attachment on your 100mm macro lens? But if this is what your little Olympus can do - then what am I doing running around with my expensive Nikons?!!

Flo, this was taken with the Olympus, which I am trying to get used to so am using each time I go out shooting. It could be somewhat more in focus but I was a little concerned since I was within about 6 inches. Didn't know what I would have done should it have taken off and heade dmy way. No extension tubes, set on Macro.

Thanks for commenting. Sorry I didn't get the tail in this one.

Wes, no need to be concerned if the bee did actually run into you. Even if it bumped into you, since you don't smell like a flower (ahem), it wouldn't bother you. They only time they'll sting is if they feel trapped.

Wes, this is really nice. I like the extreme close-up. Was this straight out of camera or did you do some post work? Whatever you did, I like it.

Thank you Charlene. I always do a little something pp like color control and small amount of sharpening. can[t remember when I had a tack sharp image out of the camera. Guess I am not as steady as I used to be.Smile
