This is a test. I've never submitted anything here before and am trying to figure out how.

Here goes.....

AND - you succeeded, Jan! Welcome to the community!

A great bee portrait. I'm glad to see you found a honey bee in your part of the country.

Whew, that is close. He looks like he is absolutely covered in pollen. Nice shot.

I gather that you are new, welcome.

Thanks, Flo and Becky. I'm glad it worked! I've never been able to catch critters in mid-flight, but shot this little guy collecting pollen in my garden.

Aside from the very nice detail on the bee, this is a great exploitation of complementary colors: the red-orange of the flower, the yellow-black of the bee with the bright yellow pollen, and the greens of the background. Great job!

Hi Jan,
Welcome to TME. I like the DOF and the colours in your photograph. I especially like how you managed to get so close. The pollen is a bonus. Nice one.

Welcome Jan. I can't add anything that hasn't been said. Great.

Thanks Bill H., Charlene, Garth and Rick. Wow. This is fun. Everybody says such nice things! I could get hooked on all this positive feedback (LOL.) I've been following the Daily Critique since it was a feature of Radiant Vista, but I'm just starting to explore other good stuff on this site. I've really enjoyed seeing the photos that all of you share in the "community" section, and find that they are inspiring me to try new things. I think I can learn a lot from all of you -- and am really looking forward to attending my very first workshop in Savannah in October.

After I submitted this photo, I realized that I had titled the subject exactly the same as a recent submission by Wes. I apologize if I stepped on any toes, and will try to be more observant and original in any future submissions.

Sorry, Wes. I sure don't want to step on your toes, because your work is absolutely wonderful and inspiring. I think I can learn a lot from you by imitation -- After all, "Imitation is the sincerest of flattery" -- (Charles Caleb Colton -- Yes, I stole the quote, too.)

Don't worry about Wes, Jan - you and he would get along just fine as you both have a great sense of humor. Wes' fav occupation is laughing!
