This is a slightly updated copy of a Post I made in another thread.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
I have been out of town and then once I got back very busy creating content and working out the kinks with transcoding our hi res content for our streaming media players..
Thank you very much for all the feedback here. Its extremely helpful. We are listening closely!
The reality of the community here is that in some respects it was a downgrade from the V Bulletin software that was previously in place. We knew that. But we had an ongoing train wreck / hangover from the way the Radiant Vista community log in was set up. That created an enormous amount of work due to member log in issues. We decided in the short run that getting everyone under one roof was imperative.
All along we have seen the community part of what we are doing as a bridge to the ultimate community forum... one that has all of the functions we want and looks beautiful.
The software that runs our site (Flex CMS) is currently being updated and there will most likely be some functionality changes to the community software. In a few months we will be revisiting the idea of the community and the suggestions that you are making here will play a big part in how we move forward.
To toot our own horn the fact that we host a free community at all on our site
where contributors regularly show up both to listen and participate is a rarity.
The norm is communities that are hosted off site. That is done to accomplish two objectives. Save time and money... contributors don't have to ever show up and this is also done to viral market the site.
One of our biggest goals here is to build actual community that we as contributors are an ongoing part of. So you will see the community aspect of this site continue to morph towards you... not away from you.
But now its my turn to make a request. The number one thing that anyone who is here can do to make this a stronger forum is invite a friend to join us and encourage them to participate. Lurking is fine because it leads (in some cases ) to participation. (Or in other words I try not to see lurkers... I try to see people who are doing the best they can and I am just excited to see them so close to actually, possibly diving in.)
TME has essentially been live tested for a month now. We didn't have time to test it behind the scenes. Everything you see here was conceived of and executed in less than 6 weeks during a time when I was out of town working for 4 of those weeks. The training wheels are starting to come off and lots and lots of new content is coming. So please tell a friend.... tell your camera club.... link to us or change that old RV link to a new TME link.
We have one of the most supportive communities online.
Please... shout it from the rooftops !
We currently have 5848 registered members. Our next target is 7500!!!
The more people we have here participating in the spirit of sharing, supporting, inspiring and enjoying the stronger we will all be.

One of the things I love most about it is feeling like a participant and not just an observer For anyone remotely interested in photography, I happily shout about this place from the rooftops (although email may work better, come to think about it).
