Updates on WesSeptember 1, 2009 @ 2:38pm
Usha. Thank you so much for keeping us posted. Please give Wes a big hug for me. I check in about ever hour. I will be so happy to hear he's out of surgery and that everything went well. He's tough and I'm sure his good spirits will carry him through. So, another day to wait. Hope he's comfortable. Love you both!

Love you all.September 1, 2009 @ 2:51pm
I left the hospital to go to work...leaving him to take a much needed nap. I asked him to shut off his phone and take agood two hour nap...before the evening routine starts with the poking and prodding.

He is handling all this amazingly well....considering.....better than I would have. He is quite a trooper.....

You will also be pleased to know that I have heard that THAT laugh (you know what I mean)many times over the last two days. WHat a guy!

Quote (Marti)

Just in case you need an image to keep in mind today, this is Wes on the first workshop he attended with us. It's on Jekyll Island in May of 2007. Craig was messing around with him one night after dinner on the deck of a favorite restaurant. How can you not love that smile!!!!!

Marti, thanks for this post. That workshop is where Mitch and I met Wes, and the rest of you.

I have alerted Mitch to the delay so we can keep the prayers going.

THAT LaughSeptember 1, 2009 @ 3:52pm
Usha: What a guy, is right. The first time I met him -- a complete stranger -- he greeted me with THAT laugh. It's the way I always see him.

Wow. Go offline for a day or so and everything breaks loose. Can't really add much to what the others have said. Hang in there and show'em your strength. We're all here with you.

Wes, We must have been brothers in another life, the story keeps getting stranger (see earlier post). After class this morning I met a friend for brunch (she has no knowledge of TME or you). She hands me a birthday present I open it and its a doo-rag, I've never owned or worn one before, total out of the blue as they say. I'll take it off when I know your OK,

Does anyone have a picture of Wes were you can't see all of his teeth, I think not!!!

See you soon brother...

The Many Faces of WesSeptember 1, 2009 @ 6:03pm
Here are a whole mess of images I've collected over 3 TME workshops in which Wes and I participated. In some of these he's actually serious! In no particular order, here they are:

AND - in all fairness to Wes - I did put him up to doing this! Of course, he could have said "NO!"

I was just surfin through this post, looking at all the photos, with my 10-mo old sitting in my lap. I looked down and he was staring intently at the monitor with a huge grin on his face. Then he laughed.

That's the power of Wes!!! Grin Grin Grin

Thinking fondly of WesSeptember 2, 2009 @ 12:29am
Coming to this late, having just heard the news. Meeting and hanging with Wes was one of the highlight of the DV TME workshop year. I am sure Wes' humor and perspective will get him through this safely. We're all thinking of you, Wes

OK He's in!!!!!September 2, 2009 @ 7:00am
Wes went in around 5:50 this morning. He looks reasonably good. He was smiling and says Hi to everyone.

It would be great if the entire community who sees this could collectively think of Wes intensely around 7:15 CENTRAL. That is when the actual surgery starts.

I will let you know as I hear back. I am supposed to get periodic updates.

Thinking of YouSeptember 2, 2009 @ 7:21am
Wes, I'll be thinking of your from now until you are out -- sending the strongest and most positive thoughts and prayers your way, my dear friend. I know that you are just fine and will be up and running us ragged by the time the Big Bend Workshop comes around.

I'm looking forward to seeing your smiling face real soon.

Talked to Usha just a minute ago and she said he went in rested and was feeling good!!! It may be 4 - 5 hours before the surgery is complete.

Tribute To Wes

Watching this tremendous outpouring of love for Wes, something comes to mind.

1. It's incredible how many different photographers "know" Wes through this forum.

2. It amazes me how many of these photographers have had one, or only a few posts in the past. After lurking in the background, Wes has indirectly brought people into the sunshine (J.G. from New Orleans, I'm thinking about you!Wink )

Here's my challenge: By the time you read this, Wes will be out of surgery and on his way to recovery. Don't stop posting! Let Wes see that you have become actively involved in the TME community, and that his few weeks of discomfort have indirectly had a positive effect.

I can think of no greater gift to him.

Bob

Hey Wes. Evidently I've been living under a rock and just got word of you bypass surgery. I can't wait to see you on the other side of this. I can't imagine how much better you are going to feel and just can't wait to see your energy and presence full throttle!

Of course I'll be thinking about you and wishing you a full and speedy recovery! You are simply the best Wes. Please take care of yourself and go easy on those nurses!

Wes Surgery 4 - 5 HoursSeptember 2, 2009 @ 8:46am
Hello everyone,

Just so you do not worry when you hear nothing for a while, Wes will be in surgery from 4-5 hours. This means he will not be coming out before around 1:15 - 1:30 Eastern time. When I talked to Usha a little while ago, she said they promised to give her periodic updates, as she said in her post this morning, and she will update the Community with those as she gets them.

Sooooo, just keep those prayers and positive healing energies and good wishes and thoughts headed Wes' way for the next 4 or so hours as he goes through the surgery and for the next 48 as he comes out of this!!! He's strong, stubborn and has a mind of his own and will come through this just fine!!!!!

Difficult WaitSeptember 2, 2009 @ 9:22am
It was just about 7:15 this morning out walking in the woods with my dog... I was absorbed with thoughts of Wes. I did not know that he was heading into surgery probably right about then. I ran into a few friends and asked them to say a prayer for our wonderful Wes. A few more voices added to his throngs of supporters -- can't hurt! But I know he's such a positive thinker... such a strong soul. He's going to be fine! Though I still wish the wait to hear news were not so long.

I said "uh...yes?"

Then she gave me the same update....and said that the next update will not be for a hour or hour and a half....

YIPEE YIPEE YIPEE!!! Way to go, Wes!

Many thanks "MISS Norman" for these updates. Golly, are you ever a trooper! Usha, perhaps you'd just better let them think you're related to Wes, or they might insist that only "family" can visit him after he gets out of surgery!
