Good news! Thanks for all the updates Usha. Be sure to give all our best to Wes. We'll keep the thoughts and prayers going.

Dunno, but let's hope they don't involve hair loss and doo-rags.

Funny! Felt good to laugh. Wes would love it.

Thanks for all the updates, Usha! You're the best.

Usha, so glad to hear the good news! How wonderful it is that you are there with him, and he can see your beautiful face when he comes out of recovery.

Please give Wes a huge virtual hug for me... don't want to upset all the tubes. Tell him I've been wearing a bandana, the closest thing I have to a doo rag, in his honor!

Good idea, Lois. In Wes's honor I think I'll don a bandana too.

turning the corner!!!!September 2, 2009 @ 3:37pm

Hey Y'all,

More good news. Wes' cardiologist says he's turned the corner as far as his heart working its way back to normal strength after the restart.

We will post another update once he is in ICU....Craig

now recovering well in the ICUSeptember 2, 2009 @ 5:09pm

Hey Everybody,

Wes is now in the ICU and continues to recover from a very long day of surgery. His cardiologist says his recovery continues to go well. Wes' doctors expect him to be in the ICU anywhere from 2 to 4 days.

Marti and I will be in Racine tomorrow to give Usha a much needed break. Can't wait to see my good friend.

There probably will not be another update until later tonight.... Craig

Exhaling!!!!September 2, 2009 @ 5:28pm
OK, was that breeze I felt a few minutes ago the result of a cumulative HUGE exhale across the country????

Now, I can breathe.

Dear Wes, I'm so looking forward to seeing you and am so glad that you are on your way to recovery. We are going to have such a good time in Big Bend in November!!!

Continuing positive thoughts and prayers for your recovery and looking forward to seeing you late tomorrow or Friday morning.

I would love to send something to the hospital; can you release that info -- perhaps privately?

Thank you Usha, Craig and Marti for all the updates. It's felt as though the entire TME Community has been able to be there in the waiting room, as family. What an amazing thing...

Rest well tonight, Wes. You done good.Smile

Just stepped out from the ICU. Saw Wes briefly. He is awake and is recovering.

I can't appropriately express my feelings right now....I am awed, humbled, grateful, thankful, filled with love, and overwhelmed. The tiny man has so much courage, he is soooo loved, I am overwhelmed with love and affection for him. He is brave, kind, generous and so full of love for life.

I love you Wesly Norman!!!

I'm with Blair on this! Thanks so much, Usha, for taking such good care of Wes. And, Marti and Craig, thanks so much for traveling to Racine to help Wes and Usha.

And Wes - hang in there, you old trooper! I'm sending lots of cyber hugs your way as I can't be there in person to give you some real hugs. Or at least hold your hand! I'm so happy now - I'll get a good night's sleep now! Beer Mug Cheers! Open Arms Smile

Suggestion for Craig and WesSeptember 2, 2009 @ 9:09pm
Craig, after Wes gets moved out of ICU, and if he feels up to it - I think it'd be great for you to find a fun and/or funny image that's been submitted for the DC. And do the DC right there in Wes' room and allow Wes to make some of his cracks that we can hear on the sound track! He could be critiquing your critique - and/or the image, too. Hope you like this idea! Smile

Hey Flo,

This is the best idea I have heard in a long time. Glad I saw this before I left...I have an extra mic I can bring for Wes.

We will get him on the air one way or the other.

Thank you Flo... as I have said many times ... you are one of my angels and an angel to TME.....Craig

Usha: many, many thanks to you for being there for Wes and looking after him. It makes me happy to know you're there.

Craig and Marti: many, many thanks for your updates and keeping an eye on things. I can't believe you guys are flying up there, that's amazing. Wes will be overwhelmed.

My dad and uncle have both had bypass surgery, so I have a little idea of what Wes will be going through, at least from a close perspective. I'll just say that the outpouring of support and love from everyone online and in person will do Wes a world of good in his recovery.

Wes is a wonderful, amazing person, and it warms my heart with such joy to see everyone voice their concerns and prayers for him Smile

Hi Wes.September 2, 2009 @ 11:56pm
Wes,

I'm sorry to hear you won't be in the workshop. You were the first one to welcome me when I signed up for the Teton workshop and I enjoyed receiving your welcome.

I'll keep you and your health in my prayers and hope to meet you soon.

Hey Everybody,

Wes continues to recover in the ICU.

Marti and I will be in Racine tonight and will continue to update the community about Wes' recovery. I want to say a huge thank you to Usha for all of the love she has shared with Wes and I also want to say a huge thank you to all of you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and love.

Here is one of my favorite shots of Wes that I snapped with the Lensbaby just outside of the meeting space that we use in Savannah for all of our workshops.

The Get Well Wes Song!September 3, 2009 @ 8:40am
I heard a song today and thought of Wes straight away... maybe someone with some musical talents could play it for him with a quick rewrite.

The song was "Da Doo Ron Ron (When He Walked Me Home)"

I just kept thinking he wears a do-rag a do do rag Grin

The original lines are below

I met him on a Monday
And my heart stood still
Da do ron ron ron, da do ron ron

Somebody told me
That his name was Bill
Da do ron ron ron, da do ron ron

Yes, my heart stood still
Yes, his name was Bill
And when he walked me home
Da do ron ron ron, da do ron ron

I was thinking something more like...

His name is Wes Norman
Find him at TME
He wears a do rag a do do rag

His pictures and his comments
Really inspire me
He wears a do rag a do do rag

Yes, hes a great guy
Yes, modesty makes him shy
And he really makes you laugh
He wears a do rag a do do rag

Just an idea, what do you think?

Just cant get that song out of my head, or the images of Wes with so many different do rags Grin

Danny

Danny, that's great. Craig writes songs (and plays guitar), so maybe you and he can collaborate?

The melody is probably copyrighted, tho, so you'd need to compose a new one.

I just talked with Usha. She had just seen Wes in ICU. Of course, he is still on the "good drugs" as his heart is returning to normal, but he seemed to recognize Usha and squeezed her hand. She left him drifting back off to sleep.

So, Wes is doing well today. I know that he will get stronger and stronger as the hours pass and it will not be long before he will be harassing the doctors to send him home!!!

Keep those prayers and good wishes and positive energies flowing as Wes progresses through those first 48 hours after such a surgery.

Thank you so much to all of you for showing your love and concern for such a dear man. Open Arms

Wes is making "fantastic progress". These are quotes from his nurse. He is making steady progress towards getting off of meds and moving to a room from the ICU.

I am very encouraged by the specificity and the tone of the voice with which they said this.

More later toady.....
