Tell Wes that it is all the good vibes and well wishes we are sending him that are helping make him stronger. Of course, we can't discount that he has a strong constitution and a fantastic outlook/attitude.

Keep up the good work Wes.

And Usha, you deserve more than a special pat on the back for the above-and-beyond angelic ministrations on Wes' behalf. Thank you.

Janet

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W.

A comment on the TME communitySeptember 3, 2009 @ 11:37pm
I want to take a moment to thank Craig and everyone else who made Radiant VIsta and then TME a reality. This is a really amazing community of folks who not only support each other in their photography but also in life. It is special and not to be taken for granted.

All of our love, photos and prayers are helping Wes and they're helping all of us. It's so nice to know that there is so much support and love out there.

Hugs to everyone! I can't wait to hear Wes on the next podcast! What a great idea.

doing greatSeptember 4, 2009 @ 10:30am
Several of Wes' meds and tubes were removed this morning. He is doing great. They might remove his respiratory tube today...might....which will be ahead of schedule.....point is...they are feeling good about him.

But he is still in a phase to be watched very carefully....so good thoughts are much needed.....

Will talk with him soon when he comes out of sedation. Can't wait to see him smile with his eyes. I am goose bumping just with the thought of it.

lots of love to you all...and thanks soooo very much for all the support and love you have shown. I am amazed at what a great community this is....I am honored to be part of it.
With love

More great news from Wes' recoverySeptember 4, 2009 @ 10:35am

Hey Everybody,

Great news.... Wes continues to recover very well. His heart is strong. Should not be long until he is fully conscious, off of the breathing tube and ready to start with his rehab. We will keep you updated. Congratulations Wes...you have made it through the most challenging part of your upgrade!!!..... Craig

P.S. Cathy...thank you for your very kind words and thank you to each and every person who has helped to make this such a supportive and loving community. As you said true community is where each of us is better than we would be on our own and we are all better off because of this thread and the love that is being mirrored back to our most generous and compassionate friend....Wes.

Such Good NewsSeptember 4, 2009 @ 11:23am
I know we all knew how well Wes was going to do. He's just such a powerful personality. That's gotta be part of his recovery.

If the love of the community has anything to do with his recovery then it should be swift indeed.

Thank you AGAIN for all the updates. They mean so much.

Cards etc for WesSeptember 4, 2009 @ 3:13pm
Several of you have asked if and where flowers and cards can be sent for Wes. Here is what am thinking at this time....Wes will probably be in ICU for a couple more days...then he might be transfered to a room. Or they may just keep him there until he is sent home. Given this, I think sending flowers to the hospital may not be practical. I was thinking that if you send any cards to my home address, I could take it to him and show him. He might like that. Once he comes home.....you could send whatever you like to my home address. I might change my mind, in case he moves to a room sooner and is expected to stay in a hospital room for a few days. Then it might be nce to have a few things in the room.

Otherwise...cards are best...and when he gets home, other things might be fun.....doo-rags etc. Wish I could find doo rags with hearts on them....

Anyway, my address is 5541 Whirlaway Lane
Racine WI 53402

Thanks all. Hope this helps.

CardsSeptember 4, 2009 @ 5:40pm
Thanks so much, Usha. Very good of you.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a heart doo rag. However since I've never bought a doo rag I'm not sure I even know where to begin! I have a couple of places in mind to try though.

Remember to take care of YOU through all of this.

Give my love to our dear Wes.

I'm laughing at the thought of Wes receiving a bushel of new doo-rags; what fun that would be!

Irish Car BombsSeptember 5, 2009 @ 5:49am
I was introduced to Irish Car Bombs on a Savannah workshop with Wes. You start with a glass of Guinness, in a shot glass containing Baileys you add a good splash of Jaimeson Whiskey. The shot glass is suddenly dropped into the beer which causes it to bubble up. Then you drink it down fast. (if you dont the cream in the Baileys will curdle) - The taste is surprisingly smooth and delicious.

The idea is to get five or six people in a circle and then to have them all drop the shot glasses in their beer simultaniously, everyone drinks as fast as they can and returns their glasses to the table without spilling any. The last fool finished pays the round and so on. (I was unsuspectedly good at this and got 4 rounds free which is an interesting way to overconsume alcohol but tough on the 5 am photo shoots and 10 mile Craig endurance marches next morning)

I am pretty sure that is what goes into them.

WES!!! Way to go, my dear friend! Up and at 'em. When are they going to get you back on a bicycle? Grin

Craig, Marti and Usha - many thanks for taking such good care of dear Wes and for the updates!

John C - that's basically what an Irish Car Bomb is. And I've heard of other car bombs - probably similar ingredients, but with Italian, or Spanish or some other nationality's or city's name instead of Irish.

However, if you, Wes, don't want any more cholesterol building up in upir arteries again, you'd do be to eschew car bombs of any name!

So, I'm charging all of you who drink with Wes in the future to NOT tempt him to do stuff like this any more!

And just remember - your own arteries can and probably are clogging up with cholesterol! Let Wes' experience teach you also!!

OK, Flo's now down off the soapbox! Beer Mug Cheers!

I have never tried anything like that Mike!

But I sure am about to Wink

Why does Savannah have to be so far away from here, I would love to drop some of those with you guys Crying

There was a vidcast here on TME from Bryan documenting the Location people workshop... in it there was an image of a young guy going for a drink with Wes and then a shot of him the morning after....

Could he have been bombed Wink

Maybe Wes could fill us in, or Usha as I am sure she was on the same workshop.

Best wishes for a speedy recoverySeptember 5, 2009 @ 7:39am
Sorry about being late Wes! First of all my very best wishes for a quick and full recovery. It was a pleasure to attend the SF workshop together with you.

And I thought that Usha and Craig put new batteries into you... Smile Wink which unfortunately did not work all that well. So, I am glad to learn that you are recovering well from surgery.

As you said, the workshop doesn't equal a vacation, in fact I need a vacation now. Smile Fond memories will always remain when thinking back to the San Francisco trip. I hope to see you again one of these days on another workshop.

Again, all the best from your friend in Germany.

Cholesterol in Guinness? Who Knew?

But seriously some day someone is gonna come up with a way to get pure cholesterol in a form you can put in a salt shaker so you can sprinkle it over everything from ice cream to pizza like they used to sprinkle monosodium glutimate.

Everything with cholestrol in it seems to tase wonderful. The person who figures out the way to purify it and distribute it as a food topping will make a fortune.

Update Saturday Early AfternoonSeptember 5, 2009 @ 2:29pm
Hi Everyone -- I'm at the hospital with Wes, taking my turn and giving Usha a break.

Wes is continuing to improve by the hour. It's amazing just to watch the progress -- almost literally -- hour to hour. He's sitting up in a chair for a large part of his day now. He's been up and for a long walk around the entire ICU area twice already today.

He was finishing breakfast when I got here this morning, and just finished lunch -- or whatever one would call pureed chicken and rice soup!! He said it was not too bad.

After the exercise this morning and just before lunch, the nurses put him to bed for a nap after lunch. So, he's sleeping right now.

If everything continues to go well, all of those irritating tubes that one has attached after such a surgery will be removed this afternoon. And, if he continues to make such good progress, he will be moved out of ICU to a regular room tomorrow. He's very pleased about that!!!

So, every hour brings more good news.

Thank you, everyone, for all of your thoughts, prayers, good wishes and positive intentions. In a couple of days, he may be able to have his computer and can read all your wonderful "get well" wishes for himself. Open Arms
