Wes, welcome back, dear friend! What a gift you've already given to this community - a chance for everyone to pour out their love and support and to all pull together for a common cause - actually for a special cause - of sending love and prayers to a dear friend who has done so much for this community!

Wes, you have given so much to all the people you have met and now, wonder of wonders, you've also given all of us and your other, non-photographer friends the chance to give back to you!

Now let's stop with the "Perry Como" act and get that aneurism fixed once and for all! Just tell us when the procedure is to take place and once again we'll all send our love and prayers to you.

See ya around on this forum - soon. Beer Mug Cheers!

I too am a stubborn old coot who just wouldn't listen to my body's signals of poor health and it took Usha, Craig and Peter a trying moment of time trying to get me to a doctor but I immediately signed myself out I just wanted to go home..

Wes

Ah, Wes, what are friends for except to take care of us when we will not take care of ourselves. As for the genetic disposition of "stubborn", yes, it can be a negative; it can also be what gets us going and keeps us going. Just use it wisely.

Mitch and I send you all our best. We both enjoy knowing that you are here and sharing life with us.

Blessings, Becky

Thank you John and Blair. I can't tell begin to tell you how blessed I feel right now. All of the hoorahs in the world could ot stand up to my blessings.

Rick I didn't mean to sound casual about the aneurysm, just had to play it casual since the doctors are, what do they know?

Flo, it is some sort of magic that brings me back to the community. You are so special to me. Wish I could croon a little like Perry Como but missed out on that talent. Love you, Flo and glad to see one of your pictures on the daily critique.

Still have a bit of a problem with gas, but what would one expect?

Seriously, welcome back!!!

Don't talk of giving back. You have already given much more than you realize. You are a bright spot in the persona of TME. It hasn't been the same without you.

Continue getting well.

Janet

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W.

Hi Everyone,

Wes is continuing to improve daily. He and Craig just went out to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things they wanted. He really is getting better and better and only has one more procedure to undergo next Tuesday. And, the doctors are treating the repair of the aneurysm almost as if it were an out-patient procedure -- only one night in the hospital and he'll be back here to continue his recovery for another few weeks.

I'm heading back to Atlanta in a couple of hours, leaving Wes in the very capable hands of Usha and Murali Vedula and Craig.

I cannot thank Usha and Murali enough for opening their home to Wes, and to Craig and to me. This was way beyond the call of duty for friendship and I will always feel a special connection to Usha and Murali and to Racine, WI because of this. Thank you so much, Usha and Murali!!!

For all of you taking that November workshop, better add to your list of necessary items to take along - clothespins - or maybe even gas masks! I think I'm glad I won't be there! Roll Eyes

good to see you back, Wes!September 13, 2009 @ 9:55am
Met you at King-of-Prussia RV weeekend workshop and have been a fan of your pix here, Wes. While I was vacationing before school begins -trying to stay off my computer a few days - you had this amazing "adventure." I read nine days worth of this thread in one swoop - with tears and then joy at your recovery. You got us all with this one!

It is wonderful that you are recovering quickly. You became a focal point that highlighted the spirit of friendship that has always been an obvious current on this forum.

Keep up the good recovery. And thanks to your special caregivers/friends!

Old folk from original RV....September 13, 2009 @ 7:46pm
I joined when RV was brand new in the old format, but rarely have energy to post. I think my meager post count was lost when I had to re-register. I take hundreds of pix in school for the walls there (kid projects) but am totally beat by the time I am home & lurking. My personal favs are macro and landscape, but I'll try anything.

Wes looked at the same display as I at a weekend workshop - the "new" thing - Lensbaby. I believe they had a display table there and we saw the orginal release. They allowed folks to try out the lens. Of course, once I recognized him when he joined the forum, it was fun to follow his amazing progress. (Sorry to talk about you like the third party here, WesWink - but you are a memorable guy.

This forum community has developed to be quite strong. The very supportive commentaries just makes it a joy to visit/lurk. Seeing how everyone has rallied and is sincerely connected to Wes was no surprise!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get to a longer workshop because of school/work schedules but am waiting for the basic course to be offered again and am determined to go.

Jane, Marti offers the Foundations workshop in the spring - it's just for women. So look up the workshop schedule. I'm sure you'd enjoy it very much.

Hi Jane,

Thanks for your interest in Foundations workshop. Unfortunately, we are not offering one in 2010. But, if the interest is out there, we'll probably bring in back for 2011.

In the meantime, most of our workshops are for all levels -- just come on and join us!! Jekyll Island is a four and a half day workshop that is good for "getting your feet wet".

Thank you for coming in on this thread for Wes!! He does tend to bring out the best in all of us. Welcome to The Mindful Eye!!

IMPORTANT - ABOUT MEDICAL BILLSSeptember 14, 2009 @ 9:45am
For those of us in the USA who have Medicare as our primary health insurance and something like Blue Cross/Blue Shield as the 2ndary provider -

If we are hospitalized and have an expensive operation, and possibly medical transport - or even a 911 ambulance call - here is what will happen.

Hospitals, etc, have agreed with first, Medicare, and then with Blue Cross/Blue Shield to accept as payment what those insurance companies say they will pay for each procedure.

(But regular insurance companies have to pay most of the bill, for those who are not yet old enough for Medicare.)

So we seniors will find statements from Blue Cross/Blue Shield first, saying what they have paid for each procedure. It's often a very very small amount!

Then the bills from the hospital, ambulance services, etc, start arriving. These bills state what has been paid to them, and what has not, the latter which they claim we must pay out of our own pockets.

Then some time later, the statement from Medicare arrives. Medicare will state that we do not owe anyone anything!

The amount so far that various people are trying to get me to pay for my husband's 911 transport, procedures at two hospitals, etc, totals around $10,000! The Trenton hospital's total bill came to over $110,000 - for 13 days plus bunches of tests. The Philadelphia hospital hasn't sent me a bill yet - perhaps they won't, as it is the University of Pennsylvania's hospital and maybe they believe in telling the truth!

But I held off sending anyone any money, knowing that I owe them nothing, because of their agreements with Medicare - and I was right. Medicare's statement arrived a few days ago and says I own nothing to anyone!

One of my friends handled her mother's estate and did not know she did not have to pay these various bills. So she's out around $11,000-12,000 of her own money! Since this was several years ago, she thinks now that she's out of luck.

Just remember, hospitals, etc, will not be truthful when it comes to trying to collect money not paid by Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield! They do not inform seniors of their agreements not to ask us for more money!

So, Wes, when you get home, do NOT pay anyone anything - until you get your final Medicare statement and find out whether you owe anyone anything!

Hi everybody...sorry, the updates have been scant lately. Wes has been recovering well. He rests, and walks and eats and sleeps. Most irritatingly, he BEATS everyone at poker...even the highly competitive ones. How dare heSmile .

Anyway, today, he is going back in for a small procedure. Will stay in the hospital overnight. This was known from when he had his first surgery. It is not a very complicated one.

He and his doctors have become friends and they too all want to hug him all the time.....no surprise there.

Will keep you posted once the procedure is done and he is in the room.
Please think of him this morning.
