Wes, I'm thinking and praying for your speedy recovery from this procedure, too. After this morning, you're "home free" to put your attention on full recovery. without having to think about going back to the hospital.
POKER!!??? You beat everyone at that, TOO??? You are one amazing fellow!
Get well soon, my wonderful friend!

| September 15, 2009 @ 8:30am | Hi Flo.....It has been great having Wes around. Just looking at him, in any condition...evokes soooo much love. I never knew I could feel this way about someone like him.
Also, Craig has been just amazing. He is always there, with a caring, loving, watchful eye, never over does things. Teases the heck out of Wes and all that laughing a carrying on is the main reason Wes is feeling so emotionally good...I am convinced. It is great to see all that is unfolding. Gratefully Usha

I'm sending healing vibes your way. Can't hurt, right? Even though you seem to be made of pretty tough stuff!
Hugs, b.
Thanks, all, for the updates. You're angels on earth. |

| mission accomplished and gratitude | September 15, 2009 @ 2:03pm | Hey Everybody,
We just spoke to Wes's amazing doctor (Dr. Sriram Ranga) and Wes' surgery to place a stint in his abdominal aorta to shore up an aneurysm was a success.
The surgical team is wrapping things up and he should be in a recovery room in a couple of hours. A big, big thank you to all of you for all of your love and support....Craig and Usha

This is great news!
I can imagine Wes is more than ready to be done with hospital procedures, and "I'm outa here."
Usha, Craig, Marti -- and Wes! You are an inspiration, in the strength of your spirit and the expression of your joy and love in action.

| thank you and the road to a perfect recovery | September 17, 2009 @ 6:52am | Hey Everybody,
Wes was released from the hospital late yesterday afternoon (following his second surgery) and is back at Usha's. Wes is in great shape and ready to begin working on the rehab for the bypass surgery.
I want to say a huge thank you to Usha and Murali for all they have done for Wes and for so graciously giving me a home away from home for a few weeks.
Everyone here in Racine including (and especially) all of the doctors and nurses at the hospital have been amazingly loving and supporting.
Its been great to hang out with Wes. He had the same effect on the hospital staff that he has had on all of us. There are so many synchronicities connected to the threads of this story that I have felt like I am in an altered reality. No other chain of events in my life has spoken to me more directly about faith, love and an inherent goodness and perfection that is at the heart of life and the nature of reality.
I can see more clearly than ever that it is always there available for us to "uncover" and experience when we choose love over fear.
A huge thank you to Wes for teaching me a lot about faith, courage, love, and happiness .....Craig

Quote (Flo)
For those of us in the USA who have Medicare as our primary health insurance and something like Blue Cross/Blue Shield as the 2ndary provider -
If we are hospitalized and have an expensive operation, and possibly medical transport - or even a 911 ambulance call - here is what will happen.
Hospitals, etc, have agreed with first, Medicare, and then with Blue Cross/Blue Shield to accept as payment what those insurance companies say they will pay for each procedure.
(But regular insurance companies have to pay most of the bill, for those who are not yet old enough for Medicare.)
So we seniors will find statements from Blue Cross/Blue Shield first, saying what they have paid for each procedure. It's often a very very small amount!
Then the bills from the hospital, ambulance services, etc, start arriving. These bills state what has been paid to them, and what has not, the latter which they claim we must pay out of our own pockets.
Then some time later, the statement from Medicare arrives. Medicare will state that we do not owe anyone anything!
The amount so far that various people are trying to get me to pay for my husband's 911 transport, procedures at two hospitals, etc, totals around $10,000! The Trenton hospital's total bill came to over $110,000 - for 13 days plus bunches of tests. The Philadelphia hospital hasn't sent me a bill yet - perhaps they won't, as it is the University of Pennsylvania's hospital and maybe they believe in telling the truth!
But I held off sending anyone any money, knowing that I owe them nothing, because of their agreements with Medicare - and I was right. Medicare's statement arrived a few days ago and says I own nothing to anyone!
One of my friends handled her mother's estate and did not know she did not have to pay these various bills. So she's out around $11,000-12,000 of her own money! Since this was several years ago, she thinks now that she's out of luck.
Just remember, hospitals, etc, will not be truthful when it comes to trying to collect money not paid by Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield! They do not inform seniors of their agreements not to ask us for more money!
So, Wes, when you get home, do NOT pay anyone anything - until you get your final Medicare statement and find out whether you owe anyone anything! |
|
Thanks for the tips Flo. I will certainly keep them in mind. Since I had two different proceedures, I am sure the costs are going to rise sharply. I will just wait.

| September 17, 2009 @ 1:39pm | Things seem simpler in Canada. You just go to the hospital and it is free but they do make you pay extra to rent a TV and to have a phone.
People over 65 years old on fixed or low income don't even have to pay for medicine (although some pharmacies make you pay $2.00 co-pay for each perscription) Thank goodness because my father in law is on a ton of medications for his heart, blood pressure etc and its all free. He just underwent a nuclear isotope check of his blood circulation at a state of the art facility. The wait to get in was 3 weeks because his condition was not considered urgent.
But I digress. Sorry to say something that might be considered political at this time. I do recall when it cost 20 bucks to see the doctor. When they introduced medicare it was the doctors who protested I think it was because all their bills were suddenly reviewed and therefore taxed. No more drawers full of undeclared stacks of 20 dollar bills.

The poker part of my life is a surprise to me, too, Flo. Do you think they were feeling sorry for me? I thank you for being a wonderful and supporting friend.
Usha, you are so full of kindness and I am glad I am your close and dear friend. I am such a lucky guy and will always be grateful for your caring and love.
Craig. when I met you 3rs ago, I had no idea that our friendship was as strong as it has become. I should have known it though after all we are both Leos). You are truly an amazing and caring human being and I am sure that much of my quick recovery has been due to your strength and positive attitude(never letting me go into the negative during this side journey). You have done your job well, now go take pictures and stop goading me into another trip around the block, after all I need some rest. Just want to say thanks and hope that I can be the same kind of friend down the road. Love you a lot, Craig you will always be in a special place in my heart and it is now a very strong heart so it will always be open to you. Your dear and very grateful friend

| September 17, 2009 @ 5:18pm | All the operations, etc, are now behind you, Wes. Doesn't it feel great to know that you've climbed that mountain and now you can see the view? So now you can concentrate on just doing the rehab work and getting stronger. And some day soon, you'll be writing us from your own digs again! I'm so happy for you, I'm about to burst!
Take good care of yourself, my dear friend. We're all counting on you to get back in better shape than when we've variously met you!
Love & great big cyber hugs!

| September 18, 2009 @ 7:47am | This is the first time I've looked at the site news and found these healing thoughts and prayers for Wes. I'm truly sorry I couldn't think of you and pray for you when you needed it the most, Wes, but thankfully there were so many other people here that could, and gave you all the love and support you needed. I truly believe that all that love will keep you and your heart, coronaries, bypasses, and aorta going for many years to come (but don't forget to take all those pills! ).
Here is to you, Wes.
May your recovery be swift and your joy great when you meet your friends here on the TME site and at the next workshop! You are evidently loved by many, and rightfully so. I wish you all the best!
Finally, I'd like to say to all of you I am deeply moved and humbled by the spirit of togetherness and caring within this community. To everyone in the TME community and especially to Craig who created this, your healing love did not just touch the heart of Wes, but mine as well! Thank you for having me. Now more than ever I'm truly grateful to be a part of this community.

| September 21, 2009 @ 3:02pm | I don't know about being a good soul, Blair. I certainly try to be. But like you I was truly overwhelmed with all the kind thoughts and prayers that were going out to Wes. I read every message (even though I didn't really have the time to) and at the end (well, to be honest pretty much from the very start) I was so touched by it all. I think all those emotions were intensified by the fact that I was so heartily welcomed by Wes when I just arrived here, but only just now found out what he had to struggle with all this time.
And his smile (which I hadn't seen until I read this thread) makes you care for him all the more.
I made a photograph earlier this year for a totally different reason, but I think it suits Wes and the love and caring he has received from this community very well. If I can find the time tonight, I'll post it here in his honor.

So sorry I am so late at getting back to you, Sebastian, but am still trying to strighten out of the twists and turns that seem to align themselves with this healing process. I love the card a lot, and it gives me something to look forward to. I can't wait until the "the good as new part is here". No do-rag needed here. The energy is what I need.
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.
