| Phalenopsis Plus Variations | September 14, 2009 @ 9:18am | The most successful orchid image I've ever made.

This arty version was palette knife, find edges, and plastic wrap. Blend mode was pinlight. I'd appreciate comments on these diddled versions.

| September 14, 2009 @ 3:29pm | Flo, I like all 3. The first and third are lovely in color and I do like the painterly treatment in the third. On the second, for me, that is my favorite. Strictly my opinion, I would get rid (in the lith) of the branch coming in from the right side or maybe just tone down the light spot. I do believe that is the "support" for the bloom, but there is a bit of light on the branch that interrupts my eye. Becky |

| September 15, 2009 @ 9:30am | I really like your 1 and 3, but have little enthusiasm for 2. To me, the subtle shifts of color in the delicate yellow and red centers is much of the story with these orchids, and the B&W seems to make it an illustration for a newspaper story. So, as I said, it's 1 and 3 for me. Either of them is great, and I really think you would choose one over the other depending on the mood you wanted to convey. I like your restrained use of effects on #3, which leaves much of the flowers relatively untouched while giving a subtle texture to the background.

| September 18, 2009 @ 7:51am | Thanks, Becky - yes, I agree that that stem ought to go.
Thanks, Rick. You and Becky have different tastes and that's interesting. I tend to prefer the 3rd one.

| September 18, 2009 @ 8:32am | I like numbers one and three. For three, I'd take out the background and isolate the orchids on a black? background. Or, create a background on a layer below with some brush strokes and slight texture. In either case, enjoy. Great job.
Janet

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W. |
