Congratulations!!December 28, 2009 @ 7:47am
Congratulations, Steven!! A blog will certainly keep you shooting -- or feeling guilty when you let life interfere and you aren't shooting and posting. Cheesy

It's also a wonderful way to share your work with the world. I highly recommend it -- even though my personal photography has suffered severely in 2009. Your determination to post every day inspires me to really get back to my "once a week" promise in 2010.

Thank you for being here and for inspiring.

Happy New Year of photographing!!!

Best wishes, Stephen. This is a massive project! April did it for each day in November, and has posted a few since then. You'll be working at that same pace for all 12 months! I just can't imagine doing this. Heck, I don't see how April managed to pull it off for just 30 days!

Yes, I realize this will be loads of work, but I am determined to make it happen. The pay off will be enormous. I should have a very good portfolio by the end of this.

You Go Stephen!January 4, 2010 @ 5:30pm
I came across this post, took a quick peek over at your blog, and...wow. There are a number I'd be happy to have taken in the course of a year, much less a day!

I'll be following with interest. Have fun!

Come on, folks! Stop by Stephen's blog and leave a comment or two. He's been posing some awesome winter shadows that shouldn't be missed. I'm sure he'd appreciate some more comments after the enthusiastic send-off we've given him!

How beautiful that Kel got another customer!

Stephen, what do you like about WordPress better than the host you had before?

Flo,
The reason I changed blog hosts was because there were several times when the blog.com site was extremely slow to upload my images. There was even one time when I was unable to get an image uploaded before I had to leave for work. To make matters worse, the blog was not available to outside viewers at these times either. I must have had problems with that site 5 times out of the first month I had the blog up.I was getting very frustrated.
I then started researching different hosts and came upon wordpress.com. Part of their appeal was the fact that blogs are stored redundantly on several different servers so that it is almost impossible for the site to be down. So far I am much happier with my blogs new home.

I like wordpress.com myself. It does take a little to get your head around, but then your away.

Looking good Steven, how have you been finding it?

I am liking wordpress alot. I am using wordpress.com which is their hosting service. It seems really easy especially compared to what I was using. So far the project is going well. I feel inspired each day to go out and be creative. I believe it is helping me to improve creatively.

One thing I'm particularly enjoying in following your project is to see the development of themes. I don't know if it's conscious, but each day seems to lead to the next—or the exploration of recurring themes. And that is teaching me something...

There are times when I make a conscious decision to make a certain kind of photograph, but honestly those days are rare. The way that I have found that I like to work is to just wander out into the world until I find something that I feel would make an interesting image. Once I have found the subject then I start to look at composition and possible layers of meaning. I find the process of photographing things very fascinating. The images for me are more about form than content. Color, tone, and shape rule my world. I see a photograph of a fallen tree branch as being an abstract image just as much as an image with little discernible content.
This blog has taught me a lot about myself and my process. It has been an interesting ride so far.
