Detail of a head from a sculpture by Alan houser, titled "Resting at the Spring."

I taped a piece of parchment paper for cooking up on a window and shot several images of it. So I used one of those shots for the composite. Sepia toned.

Sorry about that. The image has been restored. I accidently deleted it, lol, so had to go find it again. Sigh. I'm afraid it's going to be a looooong winter! Sad

The parchment paper idea is a good one Flo, it worked well with this sculpture. Nice texture overall.

Yay, it's back! I couldn't see it at first, either. I really like the texture you achieved with the parchment paper. That's a great idea that never would have occurred to me. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Djan.

There used to be a great arts and crafts supply store less than a mile from me. It closed, much to my dismay. Now I have to go to the other side of town, which I don't do very often.

This store had all kinds of rice papers and other translucent and textured sheets. Now I wish I'd bought a sample of each to use as backgrounds to layer over certain images.

So if anyone lives near one of these stores, go look at the paper supplies - you might find something you like - they can also be used as backgrounds for small objects when you shoot them.

Or if you print and make your own cards - some of those papers make exquisite inner linings or outer sheets. Or envelops - they are not hard to make - just peel apart an envelop of the right size, trace and cut around it and glue together.

The US Postal Service will thank you for sending real cards instead of electronic ones, lol.

A very successful image. Why did you say "composite"? Did you photography the statue first an then the parchment paper?

It looks like an embossed brass statue. Which material was used by the sculptor?

I also appreciate the shade of sepia you have chosen.

Thanks, Micheline.

I'd made the image of the bronze sculpture a couple of months ago.

The other day I photographed the parchment paper - and then composited the 2, with the paper on the top layer. I then painted out with a low opacity - like about 8% - the areas where I wanted a little more definition.

Flo, you certainly make me rethink the purposes of objects. This is well done.
