Over Bored ....om Technique ExplainedFebruary 17, 2010 @ 1:10pm

First I made a duplicate of the background layer.
Next I opened the grid option and selected the first square at the top of the photograph, put a circle selection in it then I twirled the contents of the square three times in each square of the grid. I repeated this until all the squares in the grid had been twirled.
Next I made the grid squares smaller. Then I put a smaller circle selection in the cross lines of the grid and twirled three times on each selection until the whole image was done.
Next I put a circle selection and twirled three times on the spots that were not yet twirled.
I hope this makes sense. All I know is there was a whole lot of twirling going on. Cheesy
Then I got the pen tool, drew out the image I wanted, made a selection and put that on its own layer. I did that for every image I drew and put each one on its own layer.
Next I put a stroke around each image. Then I added a drop shadow.
Faded the background and selected the area that I wanted to be water and put that on its own layer. I faded the water more and added some ripple effect.
All of the images I had on their own layers I duplicated, flipped them vertically, added the same amount of ripple as the water and faded them.
The main objects I brightened a bit so they would stand out a little more.

Wow, I would have never guessed this. It's even more impressive knowing what you did. The pen tool is not easy to use either. Thanks for sharing. Good job.

My gosh, Charlene, didn't you get dizzy with all that twirling? Grin

Anyway, thanks for the "how to's" - that must have taken all day! Very creative and impressive.

Would you like to give PS lessons?

Curt, Micheline, Trish, Wes, Flo and Wib,
I'm sorry for the late reply, I had a mishap playing with my dog so I'm in recovery mode. Dog is o.k. though.
Thank you all for your generous comments, you've made my day!! I'm glad you liked the results of all my twirling.Cheesy

Wow! Fantastic accomplishment! I love the starting image as much as the twirled one! Thanks for sharing your technique.
