Pacific Northwest Art School ScholarshipMarch 9, 2010 @ 10:31pm
Its been a long time that I have wanted to attend a TME workshop. However, being a student has its disadvantages, in terms of finances.

If you guys remember, few days ago in a DC, Craig mentioned a workshop that he will be conducting at Whidbey Island for the Pacific Northwest Art School. Craig mentioned that the workshop fees will be much lower compared to that of the TME workshops. It got me interested, and I visited their website. Along with the workshop information, I found out that they give 3 annual scholarships of $400 towards the tuition of any workshop chosen by the candidate.

I decided to apply, not really hopeful of a positive result. But to my surprise, today, I received a confirmation that I was chosen for the scholarship. Needless to mention, I'm very excited!

Its ironic though that there's some chance that I might not be able to attend Craig's workshop and might have to use the scholarship for some other workshop. The reason being that Craig's workshop will be in July, and there's some chance that I may be in Europe at that time for an internship.

Anyway, just wanted to share this news with you all.

Thanks!
Abhi

It is always great to hear good new, Abhi. Too bad that you might miss the Whitbey Island workshop but it still sounds good that you can take of their other workshops at a different time. Hope it works out that you get to the July workshop.

Nice to know that these opportunties exist for students.

Congratulations on receiving the scholarship, Abhi! I see they give only 1 for photography, so to be selected for that award is tremendous.

Though I can appreciate the value of the internship, I also suspect there is a reason you were led to discover this particular opportunity.

Keep us posted as things shake out?

Beer Mug Cheers!

Thanks Wes, April!!

@April, I did not knew that they only give one scholarship for photography. I guess I can boast a little more to my roommatesSmile . I know what you mean about the internship. I would very much prefer an internship in US, but it will probably take a few more days before I get to know where I end up in summer. I have literally dreamt of attending one of Craig's workshops, so I'm really excited to finally get an opportunity. I need not mention how disappointed I would be if I am unable to utilize this opportunity.

@Wes, I hope that I would get to attend Craig's workshop. Thanks for your wishes.

Will keep you posted.Smile

Abhi, what an honor to be accepted for the one and only photography scholarship! I do hope that events will not conflict, so that you can attend Craig's workshop as well as the activities in Germany.

So as it turns out, I will not be able to attend Craig's workshop. I will be away in Netherlands for the entire summer for a research internship (a must for me as a PhD student). Traveling back to US for attending the workshop is out of question.

I can not express how disappointed I am. This was an opportunity gifted to me, and I cannot take it.

Hoping for better luck in the future....

Abhi, at least you have the internship, which is necessary. I'm sure you'll have a great time and will find other opportunities for photography in the Netherlands. And there's always next year to apply once again for the Whidbey Island scholarship.

Sorry to hear that, Abhi. But, I have a feeling that you will have more opportunities to join Craig either in the Whidbey Island workshop or others that he will be conducting. Have a great summer in the Netherlands. I know that experience will help you toward your future goals.
