| All in the Grain | May 31, 2010 @ 6:37pm | I haven't posted anything for a wee while mainly because I've changed from GIMP to Photoshop and still finding my way around. I had always though that my shots lacked a wee something, something that others had and the very first picture I loaded into PS suddenly had that missing look!
That said (probably my editing) I have found PS has an almost plastic toy town look, it loses some of the tones in the highlights so Gimp I find produces the better image for me... I'm still torn between the two.
Anyway it was the wood grain in this PS edit that I liked.

Can there be an explosion of change in people that is powerful enough to shift events? |

| June 1, 2010 @ 6:47am | Mook, I too like the wood grain. I also like the angle, making the boat upright and everything else slanted.
Is your PS version CS5? How about processing an image in both a GIMP version and a PS version, so we can tell what you're talking about? Plastic toy town?

| June 2, 2010 @ 11:18am | this is the cs4 toy town look, i'll not post the gimp version as i think i have it sorted out now after managing to catch some 101 tutorials by mark johnston. i think i was being a wee bit over exuberant in the raw editor

I do really like this, and it looks very natural to me.
