| Caterpillar | July 14, 2010 @ 3:36pm | We had a 1-hour window of calm air this morning before the wind began gusting again. I was lucky enough to be out with the macro lens, and got a few shots (about 140, actually, most of which will be transferred to the bit-bucket). I noticed this fatso as I reached into the weeds to clean up after my dog. In the large version, you can see the 3 tiny little eyes just above its mandible. I guess when all the world is your salad bowl, good vision isn't a priority.
Canon 40D, Canon 100mm macro, f/11, 1/250 w/on-camera flash, ISO 400, distance to subject ~8 inches
