Hello,

A few shots from the traditional boxing day Hunt. No longer allowed as a sport.

All the best Alan

Alan, these are wonderful images. I think you caught the restrained excitement of the gathering and the beginning of the hunt. I noticed that two of the horses are smaller than the others. Are they mares, do you know? Did you get any close-ups of the dogs?

Alan, good images. The brightness of the morning and the anticipation of those involved, horse and dogs included, comes across well.

I once thought this would be a fun sport. The truth is however, I just loved to ride, so it had nothing to do with the hunt.Smile

I am impressed with how sharp and clear these images are. Nice work indeed.

So-o-o-o, since they aren't allowed to run a fox to ground, what exactly do the hounds do these days, other than keep the horses on their toes?

Being kind of a dog guy instead of a horse guy, I have 2 favorites here. #3 with the pack and the two red coated riders--you chose a great low angle that emphasizes the size differences between the ground-hugging hounds and the hunters' horses. The second #5 ( Wink ), with the pack giving attention to the rider (Master of the Hounds?)--I think a crop of that with just the red coated rider and the closest hounds in the pack (the ones paying attention) would be really effective.

Thanks for sharing these scenes that are rawther distant from my quotidian routine.
