| The Creature in the Bedroom | September 15, 2010 @ 12:02am | I found this cool old camper beside the Alaska Hwy in the Yukon. I was just about to step inside when something big moved in the bedroom. I stood outside making some noises for a few minutes before I tried again. I'm guessing it was from the 50s.

Something made a nest above the icebox. Looks like straw from the bed.

I tried to open the 2nd from the top drawer and some creature stirred and poked part of it's head and a few claws through the opening where the cutting board used to be. I jumped! I think it was a squirrel but I'm not sure. Either way I have a fear of squirrels so that was my sign to get out.

As far as the scary bedroom, this is as close as I got.

I wonder who had called this their "home" and what caused them to abandon it? Perhaps they didn't want to live here during the long harsh winters.

| September 19, 2010 @ 11:29pm | This is quite a cool find..... and I admire your bravado for going inside, critters and all! In fact, I am amazed after all these years that the floor still held up for anyone to walk on it!
Great shots and I love #1 and #3 the best----you could sit and imagine a million scenes from years gone by (and now) while staring at these two images.
Well done!

| September 19, 2010 @ 11:36pm | Speaking of the North...and the campers, here is one that within just another couple of years, should look about like the one in your images.
I spotted this one and took a shot with my BlackBerry as it was being pulled by a truck that looked just as old, fueling up along the highway between Anchorage and Fairbanks last fall...

Not nearly as photographically well done as yours, but it certainly prompts the viewer to ask similar questions about it's history
