In today’s Daily Critique Craig looks at a strong portrait and discusses the following:

- using shallow depth of field to simplify and the lead the viewer’s eye

- getting rid of color to increase the impact of gesture and expression

- working with a high to low camera position to get more light in the eyes

- using a patch technique to remove a high contrast distraction in the image

- considering layers of story
