This is gorgeous. It speaks to me on many levels. I like the blue overcast as well. It speaks of cold mornings and frosty water. I might wish for a bit more of another color but not much, just for a bit of variety. Nice scenery.

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W.

Welcome to TME, Steve. What an outstanding image to start your journey in TME. The arch leads me into the image and actually keeps me there. I also like the combination of the orange colors in the sky working with the small abount of green in the evergreens along the creek. Looks like a great place for shooting, even if it does look chilly.

Welcome, Steve! And what a great first image! I love all the subtle colors from cold to warm. I also love all the details you captured. Seems there's another stone arched bridge in the distance. A very lovely scene. Makes me want to see it in person, even tho I don't like the cold.

Thank you for your kind comments.

And, yes, it was as cold as it looks!

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forum. I’d say you’ve captured the cold beautiful. The overall blue with the touch of orange works very well.. I like the composition. The rocks and stone bridge help to make it feel brutally cold. I like how my eye wants to stay in this image and explore.

Excellent capture of all those cool colors of blue, green, and gray. I also like your use of the diagonal from lower right up through the center to lead the eye into the scene beyond the bridge. Very nicely done.

Steve, great capture. I love the composition and how it moves you through the sceen. FYI, my grandfather was a coal miner at the Big Pit.
