Cloud Play №4 (Breath) by asiegfried, on Flickr

Nikon D300; f8 @ 1/250 sec, ISO 200 (handheld);
18.0-200.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 18mm (27mm EFL)

This was one of those rare images which needed very little post-processing. Simply look up, enjoy, and capture to share! I love when that happens. Smile

It is funny that you should choose this time to post a cloud image. I just returned from a hiking trip where I took many such images. But I have to say yours has an ethereal quality that none of mine have. I particularly like how your crop shows a transition from grey-slightly dark to lighter clusters. Let the fluff and wisp and streaks play against the blue and sun. I love clouds and I like your capture!

Thanks for your comments, John.

This sky was "breathtaking", and the shot is as wide as I could go with this lens! (At a 1.5 crop factor.)

I really like the texture in this image. Almost seems as if you can "feel" the clouds.

Beautiful cloud formations, nicely captured.

This has an abstract feel to it. The texture suggest it could be the ocean from above the clouds rather then the sky from below them. Very interesting and appealing.

I'm with Donald on this: my first thought in looking at it was, "Wow! April hitched a ride on the space shuttle." Of course, the shuttle isn't flying anymore. The layers of clouds hint at great depth. Thanks for looking up!

Such an attractive design - I would play with darkening and lightening it and then print it big 17x23 and see how it makes an impact.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your additional comments.

That makes me very happy!

Ah-hah. I hadn't seen it that way before, and now enjoy that view too.

Peter, you've nudged me to try a large print. This is one I might like to wake up to on the wall across from our bed.
